Tamashiro Chiharu of Kiroro Beginning Solo Activities

Kiroro’s vocalist Tamashiro Chiharu is resuming singing activities after a three-year hiatus. She will make her solo debut on October 19th with a single titled “Kamisama”.

Tamashiro is said to have lost her self-confidence ever since she had problems with her vocal cords in 2001. Although she continued singing, her low self-esteem was affecting her life at home. She says her situation was painful and that she was irritated with being weak.

However, Tamashiro says her turning point came in 2009 when she gave birth to her third child. She was also inspired when she happened to catch singer Ayaka energetically performing on television, despite being diagnosed with Graves’ disease earlier that year. Tamashiro began taking voice training in the spring of 2010 and began working toward regaining her confidence.

Besides the single “Kamisama”, Tamashiro is also preparing a new album that is expected to be released later this year.
