Recently it was reported that AKB48's Itano Tomomi was temporarily suspending activities due to vocal cords problems. However on September 5th, both Itano and her recording company denied these claims.
After being diagnosed with acute vocal cord inflammation that would take 3-4 weeks to heal, Itano made an appearance at an AKB48 handshake event earlier this week where she said she was unable to sing at the moment and thought it'd be best to let her voice recover fully first. However, fans and media outlets misunderstood this to mean that she was suspending activities until her voice healed.

Itano s agency released the following statement:
We are doing our best for her full recovery without having to suspend singing activities.

Meanwhile, Itano wrote on her blog: "I m sorry to make everyone to worry about my throat. To recover quickly, I ll refrain from using my voice as much as possible! My body is healthy though."
