S/mileage shocked fans back in August with the introduction of five new sub-members and the subsequent graduation of first generation member Ogawa Saki — now, the loss of brand new inductee Kosuga Fuyuka appears to be continuing that trend.
During a rehearsal for S/mileage's nationwide tour beginning September 10th, Kosuga was taken to the hospital for an examination after complaining she didn't feel well. The check-up revealed "severe anemia" requiring several months of medical treatment, and Kosuga was immediately pulled from S/mileage's line-up in order to focus on her health. She will be allowed to return as a trainee with Hello! Project Eggs, but unfortunately, it seems her run with S/mileage is already over.
Producer Tsunku commented, "She's still very young, so I'd like for her to get better quickly so I can give her and her lovely smile a fresh start in the Eggs." S/mileage's tour will continue as planned with their seven remaining members; the group's new single "Tachiagaaru," featuring Kosuga, is set to release on September 28th.
